Who Is Covered
This warranty applies only to the original retail purchaser of an eligible MATRIX® truck topper.
Warranty coverage is:
- Limited to the original vehicle for which the MATRIX® topper was purchased
- Non-transferable to another owner
- Non-transferable to another vehicle
- Available for qualifying personal, commercial, and fleet use
- Available for professionally installed and customer-installed products
- Limited to eligible products originally sold, delivered, registered, and installed within the United States
Customer installation does not automatically eliminate warranty coverage. However, damage or failure caused by improper installation, incorrect adjustment, incompatible mounting methods, or failure to follow Black River installation instructions is not covered.
Removing or transferring the MATRIX® topper to another vehicle ends warranty coverage unless an exception is approved in writing by Black River.
Warranty Start Date
Each warranty period begins on the original retail purchase date.
For products sold through an authorized Black River dealer, the warranty begins when the dealer sells the MATRIX® topper to the original retail customer—not when Black River ships the product to the dealer.
Proof of purchase is required to confirm:
- The original retail purchaser
- The original vehicle
- The product purchased
- The retail purchase date
- Warranty eligibility
Acceptable documentation may include:
- Original retail receipt
- Dealer invoice
- Purchase agreement
- Dealer installation or delivery record
- Verified Black River sales record
- Verified authorized-dealer sales record
If the customer cannot provide proof of purchase, Black River may attempt to verify the purchase through its records or the selling dealer. If the purchase and warranty eligibility cannot be verified, warranty coverage may not be available.
Product Registration Is Required
The original retail purchaser must register the MATRIX® topper with Black River within 30 days of delivery.
Registration must also be completed before a defect, failure, or other potential warranty-related issue is discovered.
Registration submitted after an issue has been discovered will not establish warranty coverage for that condition.
Registration requires:
- Original purchaser information
- MATRIX® serial number
- Retail purchase date
- Delivery date
- Selling dealer
- Original vehicle year, make, model, and bed length
- Installation information
- Proof of purchase
The MATRIX® serial number is located on the identification plaque inside the topper.
An authorized Black River dealer may complete registration on behalf of the customer, but the registration must still be submitted within 30 days of delivery.
Product registration confirms ownership and product information. It does not expand, extend, or change the coverage described in this warranty.

Structural coverage does not include damage or failure caused by:
- Collision, impact, rollover, or accident
- Cargo striking the topper
- Overloading or improper load distribution
- Use outside the product’s intended purpose

Kingpin Lighting Products
Kingpin Lighting products are not covered by the Black River MATRIX® Limited Manufacturer Warranty.
Kingpin Lighting products, including lighting components sold with or for a MATRIX® topper, are covered solely under the applicable warranty provided by Kingpin Lighting.
Customers who purchased a Kingpin Lighting product through Black River may contact Black River for assistance. However, all coverage decisions, exclusions, claim requirements, and available remedies are subject to Kingpin Lighting’s warranty terms.
View the Kingpin Limited Warranty
The use of a Kingpin Lighting product or another third-party accessory does not automatically cancel unrelated MATRIX® warranty coverage. However, damage caused by a third-party product, accessory, installation, or modification is not covered by this warranty.
Shipping Damage
Shipping damage is separate from manufacturer warranty coverage.
Customers and dealers should inspect the product and packaging before accepting delivery whenever possible. Visible damage should be documented and noted with the carrier at the time of delivery.
Concealed shipping damage discovered after unpacking or uncrating the product must be reported to Black River within 48 hours of the carrier’s recorded delivery time.
A shipping damage report should include:
- Customer name
- Order number
- Delivery date and time
- Freight carrier
- Photos of the packaging
- Photos of the shipping label
- Photos of the complete product
- Close-up photos of the damage
- Delivery receipt or bill of lading, when available
Reports submitted after the 48-hour period may be reviewed at Black River’s discretion. However, Black River cannot guarantee that late-reported damage will be accepted by the carrier or resolved as a shipping claim.
